This artwork was created as an independent mixed-media digital piece and existed prior to any publication context. It was later selected by author Matthias Clauss for use on the back cover of his book Die Reise ins Licht – Buch 2: Astral-Projektion.

The work originated from nature scenes I photographed, which then became the foundation for a layered digital painting process. The original photograph, combined with painterly elements and light work, allowed the image to evolve beyond documentation into a contemplative, symbolic landscape.

Two ancient trees form a living threshold, their roots exposed and intertwined, opening onto a distant horizon. Light gathers between them, reflected in water and air, suggesting a moment suspended between presence and passage — a quiet crossing rather than a destination.

This piece was originally created for the Beauty of Nature Contest by Genuine-Art. By merging self-shot photography with digital painting, the work explores nature as a liminal space: a meeting point between the visible world and inner experience. The scene does not depict a specific place, but a state of being — one of stillness, renewal, and gentle transformation.

Although later adapted for publication, the artwork remains rooted in its original intent: an invitation to pause at the edge of change, where nature becomes both mirror and guide.
