THORNS and BLOOM
A Celebration of Courageous Beauty
This artwork emerged from a dream image of two hands entwined with white roses and their thorned stems. The image lingered after waking and was later translated into drawing and paint, keeping the structure and mood of the original vision intact.
The composition centers on contrast held in balance. Pale roses unfold among sharp thorns, their petals soft against the tension of the stems. The hands are present but not dominant — steady, supportive, and marked by contact. Nothing in the scene is isolated; bloom and thorn exist together, without hierarchy.
Ink lines define structure and movement, while watercolor softens edges and allows light to settle across petals and skin. The limited palette emphasizes restraint rather than drama, letting texture and line carry the image forward. The surface reads as layered and tactile, with marks remaining visible rather than concealed.
The work does not resolve the tension it holds; it stays with it. Instead, it stays with the moment where fragility and endurance meet — a quiet image shaped by contact, memory, and persistence rather than narrative or conclusion.
